JOB DESCRIPTION:
             
The major responsibilities of this position are to perform various chores in the laboratory such as sterilizing (autoclaving) lab supplies (plasticware, glassware, water, etc.), making LB and LB agar plates, unpacking, and checking supply levels, and cleaning certain equipment and common bench areas. In an ideal situation, one will also have a chance to get involved in low level of research work, such as cloning and mini and maxi preparations of plasmids.

  • Autoclaving plasticware, glassware, LB, and water.
  • Making LB and LB agar plates.
  • Unpacking and organizing supplies, checking their levels, and letting a postdoc know so that orders can be placed.
  • Cleaning common bench areas, water bath, and certain designated equipment.
  • Work hours are flexible between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Flexible Hours.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 10-12 hours a week (3 or 4 times a week and each time 2-4 hours).
  • Assignment length may range up to 4-5 months.

EXPECTED SALARY:

$21.00 hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associate degree in an appropriate area of specialization or a high school diploma and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently attending a college and living in the nearby geographical area (Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens).
