2022-2023: Marine/Shipping - Hull and Systems Engineer Intern (2-4 months)

Chevron Shipping will begin accepting applications through September 30, 2022, for Hull and Systems Engineer Intern positions for Summer 2023. Internships are 2-4 months in duration and are located in Houston, Texas, and San Ramon, California. Chevron Shipping Company is looking for outstanding students declared in the area of Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or other closely related disciplines who would like to work on challenging marine projects. The Marine Technical & Projects and Fleet Technical groups provide marine engineering, technical and project management services to support:

  • Chevron’s fleet of approximately 30 trading tankers and LNG carriers
  • Upstream marine projects (F(P)SOs, Tension Leg Platforms, Semi-Submersibles etc.)
An internship with either group may provide opportunities to support shipyard projects, develop design solutions for onboard systems, work on marine aspects of Chevrons major capital projects and gain hands-on experience through vessel visits. Interns can expect to meet other Chevron interns through corporate-wide intern events. This internship is for the summer of 2023.
Marine Technical & Projects
The Marine Technical & Projects group supports the Corporation’s offshore floating oil and gas production/storage facilities.  The group provides engineering, consulting, and management services to major capital projects through all phases of project life from design and construction to installation and operation.
This Hull and Systems Engineering Summer Intern position will interact with team and major capital project members to provide marine engineering and naval architecture services for floating offshore projects such as floating production, storage & offloading vessels (FPSOs), spars, TLPs, and semi-submersibles.
Fleet Technical
The Fleet Technical group supports the Corporation’s oil and gas transportation. The group provides engineering, consulting, and project management services for Chevron’s fleet of oil & LNG tankers for all phases of project life from design and construction to operation.
This Hull and Systems Engineering Summer Intern position will interact with team members to provide marine engineering and naval architecture services for Chevron Shipping Company LNG carriers, crude oil tankers, product carriers, and port facilities.
Qualifications

  • Studying Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or equivalent and in good academic standing.
  • Applicants must have permanent work authorization in the United States and not require sponsorship.
Other Considerations

  • Willingness to attend vessel at sea for a period of up to 2 weeks.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders into ballast and cargo tanks, and to board vessels by means of vertical/accommodation ladders.
