Scientist, Fungal Microbiology/Fermentation

We are searching for a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in fungal microbiology and fermentation to join our synthetic biology team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Hexagon's team of fungal biologists, synthetic biologists, and strain engineers to drive the growth and optimization of fungal cultures to enable our drug discovery platform. Opportunities for scientific and career development include exploration of novel biology and assay formats as well as leadership of project teams from Discovery to IND.

Key Qualifications
  • PhD in microbiology, fungal biology, chemical engineering or a related discipline required
  • Extensive experience with the high throughput culturing of diverse fungal species at scales from milliliter to multi-liter
  • Experience in the optimization of culture conditions for production of natural products
  • Experience in the use of stirred tank and/or rocker bioreactors is desired
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build transparent and collaborative relationships across the company
  • Exceptional interpersonal and management skills that foster collaboration, teamwork, scientific excellence and rigorous innovation
