Controls Engineer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 Analyze electrical schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD. EPLAN is a Plus.
 Evaluate PLC programs, and commission industrial controls systems, PLC software design, and HMI
screens.
 Responsible for PLC/HMI code installation, debugging, and commissioning of the complete system.
 Conduct some device programming, and PLC programming.
 Coordinate machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build teams.
 Analyze and troubleshoot the applied programming.
 Ensure systems are designed and programmed to customer and build specifications using standard
techniques and approaches.
 Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of systems.
 Overtime at 1.5. Double Time at 2.0. Holiday at 2.0.
 GCCH-1, GCCS-2, GMEPP, and GM Safety Lockout Training at MTEC is required and will be provided by
Comtech.
 Expenses are paid at Per Diem for long term travel.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
 Must have 2+ years of Controls Engineering, PLC, and HMI programming experience.
 Must have 2+ years of hardware design using RSLogix or TIA Portal software programming.
 Must have either Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, or Siemens Step 7 PLC experience.
 Proven ability to program, and write code or ladder logic from scratch.
 Rockwell PLC Experience is preferred.
 Experience with automotive manufacturing integration and commissioning is preferred.
 Prior experience programming within customer-defined standards and templates.
 Proficient with a variety of field bus networks including but not limited to Ethernet I/P. DeviceNET,
Profibus, ProfiNet is a plus.
 Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills to deal with unusual and complex problems.
 Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work effectively with others.
