Job Purpose
Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2023 Interns! Pattern’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills, as well as a better understanding of the renewable industry. This internship program will run for approximately 10-12 weeks and include a formal welcome, mentorship opportunities, and executive exposure. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the larger renewable community and invests in the next generation of great minds.
The Pattern Controller’s organization is seeking an intern to support its settlements and accounting for market-based activities of Pattern’s generating assets. This internship will give you the opportunity to gain a knowledge and understanding of Pattern’s participation in ISO/RTO markets and how the market settlements impact its various revenue streams, cash flows and financial statements.
Key Accountabilities
· Review and validate ISO/RTO invoices against shadow settlements of ISO/RTO charges
· Participate in daily, weekly and monthly settlement of physical and financial trading activities
· Assist with market reports and other support needed for revenue invoicing
· Participate in month-end close activities including journal entries preparation, account reconciliations, and flux analysis
· Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues
· Respond to information requests from other departments
· Completion of a formal internship presentation
· Other projects as assigned
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
· Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or related area having completed 3 years of course work or 1 year of MBA course work.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision.
· Enjoys working in a very “hands on” and detail-oriented environment.
· Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the assigned entities.
· Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
This position will commence in late May/early June through August 2023.
