Finance Leadership Development Program - Summer Internship (2023)

How will you make an impact?
The Thermo Fisher Scientific Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP) is crafted to accelerate emerging development of high potential college graduates to prepare them for upwardly mobile careers within finance at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The program is run by a dedicated Finance Leadership Development Program Manager with oversight by the CFO and company Finance Leadership Team.

Our Internship is a 12-week summer program crafted for rising juniors and seniors majoring in finance and/or accounting. Interns will be matched to a 12-week project based on their skills combined with the finance business need.

What will you do?
Our intern projects are designed to give you real-world finance and accounting experiences and project responsibility in a large organization. In addition to being assigned to a manager and team, you will get additional opportunities to experience our workplace culture with exposure to finance leaders as well as other leaders in the organization. To ensure projects are challenging and meet the needs of our multifaceted business, final project assignments will not be resolved until late spring. Interns will be asked to present an end of assignment presentation to their team of colleagues at the end of their internship. All Finance interns will be evaluated at the end of their internship and interviewed for a full-time role in the rotational Finance Leadership Development Program upon graduation.

The full-time FLDP affords participants an outstanding chance to create results, quickly gain credibility and develop a strong company network throughout their two years. Prior to graduating from the program, participants will work with the Program Manager to identify full-time roles they will interview for across the finance organization for full-time placement upon graduation.

Location/Division Specific Information
As a global organization, we have many sites located across the country. Our Finance Interns will be based in a variety of different cities, including but not limited to: the greater San Diego, CA area – the greater Boston, MA area – Pittsburgh, Allentown and Center Valley, PA, and the greater Hillsboro, OR area.

How will you get here?
  • Full time student completing bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or similar between December 2023 and June 2024
  • Preferred GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Strong desire and motivation to develop a career as a future leader in the finance function
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Related work or internship experience a plus
  • Results oriented through initiative, ownership, and accountability
  • Being geographical flexibility is required during and upon completion of the program
  • Applicants must have unrestricted US work authorization. Forms of CPT and OPT are forms of restricted work authorization.
