2023 Summer College Intern-Meter Technology and Product Support

Position Specific Description
Under direct supervision, this job seeks for the candidate to apply basic engineering principles to support everyday operations and special projects. As part of the Meter Engineering team, the Intern will have the opportunity to work safely with different metering technologies and learn more about industry and FPL standards and best practices. The position includes hands on activities to support qualification, acceptance, root cause analysis and feasibility of existing and new industry technology. Candidates must have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered
 
 Some of the responsibilities for our plant internships are listed below:
  • Learn and practice FPL safety culture and corporate values
  • Support Meter Engineering team on new meter shipment acceptance testing process
  • Review and update work instructions, process flows and operating procedures
  • Support Six Sigma projects
  • Conduct supervised technology investigations associated and produce reports
  • Learn and perform electromagnetic compatibility, accuracy, temperature humidity and functional testing on metering devices

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
