Aviation Intern (Corporate)

Oxy’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August for a full 12 weeks. As an Oxy intern, you will have the opportunity to experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Oxy’s core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. Oxy interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. In addition to attending training and development courses, lunch and learns, field trips, and social activities, interns will be given the chance to meet with Oxy executives and leadership throughout the internship. Click here for more information about the intern program. 

The selected intern will be exposed to all aspects of Occidental Aviation, to include Aviation Business Management, Facility Management, Aviation Maintenance, Flight Operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Global Safety Assurance of Aviation onshore and offshore, fixed-wing and/or rotor-wing operations.   

The Aviation Intern will have the opportunity to learn and assist with aviation scheduling and the support activities of Occidental Petroleum and their subsidiaries. Effectively provides and supports aviation solutions to meet travel request in accordance with company policy and procedures. Prepares all documentation and supporting arrangements necessary for operational success. In addition, provides administrative, analytical, and effective reporting and customer support services. Requires developing and leveraging a network of internal and external company resources to ensure timely and consistent application of processes, standards, and controls to include finance, procurement, information technology and other support staffs. Support all activities of the aviation department and interface with executive leadership and their staff.

Required Qualifications 
  • Must apply to Oxy’s job application at www.oxy.com/careers to be considered  
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the following; Business Management, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautical Science, Unmanned Systems, or Health, Safety & Environment  
  • Must have a graduation date of December 2023 – May 2025  
  • Must maintain minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale 
  • Desire to pursue a career in Corporate Aviation
