2023 Summer College Intern - IT Vendor Management Office

Position Specific Description

The NextEra Energy IT Vendor Management Office (IT VMO) is a small, though very influential organization which was established in 2017. It is currently comprised of a team of five professionals who focus on the strategy, governance, and support of the most important relationships and contracts in the IT department. The IT VMO is directly responsible for the preferred services supplier program (NextEra Energy Strategic Outsourcing Providers - NEESOP) which supplies 80% of the non-employee IT talent at NextEra Energy as well as maintaining oversight for the remaining 20% of services suppliers. This team provides contract and relationship expertise directly to business unit CIOs, and they are often called upon to provide advice and direction for a variety of outsourcing situations and scenarios. An internship with the IT VMO will provide insight, experience, and senior leadership exposure that will be translatable to any IT department or IT purchasing team at any company.
 
The successful candidate will be engaged and have responsibility for several impactful deliverables which may include:
  • Monthly contractor metrics collection and reporting
  • Bi-weekly CIO Review of large dollar purchases
  • Engagement with HR and/or Legal departments for compliance activities
  • Internal communication channels for best practices
  • Process definition and improvements for IT purchasing activities.
 
The successful candidate will have the aptitude and basis to be successful at:
  • Executive interactions
  • Microsoft Office standard toolset (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) and data analytics skills
  • Microsoft SharePoint and concise communication skills
  • SAP ERP purchasing system (S4 / Hana)
  • ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM)
  • SAP Fieldglass toolset

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
