Geophysicist Full-Time (Oil & Gas Business)

We are looking for motivated individuals to fill the position of Geophysicist based in Houston, Texas.  This person will be a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary organization. Our geophysicists work with geologists, reservoir engineers and landmen to develop new drilling opportunities and develop a strategic exploitation and business plan to capture these opportunities and add value. 
Essential Job Duties: 
  • Perform integrated structural and stratigraphic interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data, including well-to-seismic ties, fault and horizon interpretation and mapping, velocity modeling/depth conversion, seismic attribute extraction and analysis. 
  • Work with geologists, reservoir engineers, and landmen to identify and develop new exploration, out-step, and development drilling opportunities, and develop a strategic business plan to capture these opportunities and add value. 
  • Support fast-paced drilling operations, including continued integration of new drilling information and identification of new/updated drilling locations. 
  • Support construction of seismically-constrained geologic reservoir and simulation models. 
  • Contribute to seismic acquisition and/or processing activities, including new data, existing data, and/or wellbore geophysical data. 
  • Actively participate in reservoir surveillance activities and support resulting well actions. 
  • Support reserves estimation and documentation process. 

 
Skills: 
  • Advanced skills in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation, velocity/depth modeling, inversion and attribute analysis at the reservoir scale. 
  • Ability to evaluate technical risks relating to trap, reservoir, charge and seal, and combine them with economic and engineering data to develop a comprehensive business picture for decision making. 
  • Ability to integrate 2D and 3D seismic interpretation with geologic, petrophysical, and field data. 
  • Ability to contribute effectively and creatively as an individual and as a member of multidisciplinary teams  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Is comfortable when dealing with ambiguity  
  • Excellent English language skills to communicate information and evaluations in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in written format. 
 
Education:  
  • MS or PhD in Geophysics or Geology with a strong geophysical focus  
  • Must meet our GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale  
  • Must have a graduation date in 2022
