Intern, Human Resources

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist with recruiting functions and benefit administration.  The position is also responsible for sourcing qualified applicants, assisting candidates through the application process, coordinating interviews, onboarding new employees and assisting with personnel records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Key Accountabilities:
Recruiting

  • Attends job/career fairs with appropriate staff as a source to generate qualified applicants
  • Assists with the writing of and updating of all job descriptions
  • Provides information on company operations and job opportunities to potential applicants
  • Arranges travel and lodging for applicants, if necessary
  • Instruct applicants on completing employment applications and review for completeness 
  • Coordinates interview appointments for applicants
  • Assists management and supervisors in identifying personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills
Human Resources Administration

  • Supports company policies and procedures while adhering to all applicable laws
  • Helps assure compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Assists employees with human resources questions, and concerns
  • Prepares new employee files, including welcome cards for endorsement by President
  • Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files
  • Assists with compliance of current/required state and federal postings at all locations
Other frequent duties:

  • Process HR paperwork
  • Assists or prepares correspondence
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be available for daily work and overtime as required
  • Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc)
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines
  • Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations
  • Collect, analyze and organize information into a logical and efficient format to support economic and efficiency analyses
  • Maintain composure and work under pressure situations
  • Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Business or related degree
**Rising Senior or Junior status preferred
Experience Required:
**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Basic math and accounting skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Knowledge of government compliance requirements
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)
