Intern, Communications
POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Communications team with internal and external communications, media relations and event planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key Accountabilities:
Corporate Communications
- Author written content for internal and external audiences
- Create and publish content for weekly Intern Insider newsletter
- Aid with design of visuals and graphics for various projects and campaigns
Media Relations
- Support execution of news sharing include press release writing and distribution
- Assist with updates to the external REG website including adding and refreshing content
Event Management
- Aid with execution of employee recognition event(s)
- Assist with company ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking ceremonies, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Be available for daily work and overtime as required
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)
- Demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc)
- Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines
- Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations
- Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related degree
** Junior or Sophomore status preferred
Experience Required: Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Basic math skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
AP writing style
Knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
