Intern, Communications

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Communications team with internal and external communications, media relations and event planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Key Accountabilities:
Corporate Communications

  • Author written content for internal and external audiences 
  • Create and publish content for weekly Intern Insider newsletter
  • Aid with design of visuals and graphics for various projects and campaigns
Media Relations

  • Support execution of news sharing include press release writing and distribution
  • Assist with updates to the external REG website including adding and refreshing content
Event Management

  • Aid with execution of employee recognition event(s)
  • Assist with company ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking ceremonies, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be available for daily work and overtime as required
  • Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc)
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines
  • Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations
  • Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related degree
** Junior or Sophomore status preferred
Experience Required: Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Basic math skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
AP writing style
Knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
