Intern, Plant Accountant

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist with the monthly financial close process and special projects while assuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for consistently applying valid accounting principles to achieve financial accountability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
General Ledger

  • Provide support in regular and timely reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy
  • Assist with monthly accruals and the closing of books
  • Coordinate reconciliation of perpetual inventory to physical measurements on a regular basis (month-end physical measurements, cycle counts, etc.)
Day-to-Day Activities

  • Support accounts payable personnel with processing of vendor invoices and cash disbursements
  • Monitor daily entry of inventory transactions to ensure accurate and timely records for production facilities
  • Assist with reconciling inbound and outbound inventory logs at production facilities
  • Compile monthly sales data analytics by customers and geographic regions
  • Review financial results to budget and investigate variances
Other frequent duties:

  • Assist special projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc.)
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines
  • Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations
  • Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
  • Ability to perform algebraic and logic calculations
  • Collect, analyze and organize information into a logical and efficient format to support economic and efficiency analyses
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Accounting, or related degree
**Senior or Junior status preferred
Experience Required: Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Advanced math and accounting skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)
