Procurement Analyst Co-op/Intern

Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.

  1. Assurance of Products and Services: Support our Cell Engineering and Concentric teams with the right products/services, at the right quantities, at the right quality, and at the right time.
  2. Operational excellence: Automate and streamline the processes so we can procure faster, responsibly, and in a compliant way.
  3. Strategic supplier partnerships: Assist in finding the right suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships to fuel Ginkgo’s growth and innovation.
  4. Drive productivity cost savings: Enable Ginkgo to reinvest in R&D and support growth. 

These focus areas are enabled through structures that leverage the size and scale of Ginkgo, building our talent and capabilities, ensuring efficient and effective systems and processes, and procuring in a responsible and compliant way.

As a Procurement Analyst Co-op/Intern you will: (1) support R&D teams to ensure delivery of products and services,  (2) perform data analytics to drive projects to develop and to drive faster processes for buying, and (3) work with the Procure to Pay team to support the Buying and Accounts Payable activities.

Please note: the team is open to this role being an internship (May 2023 start, 3 month summer program) or a co-op (January or July 2023 start, 6 month program), with preference for co-op.

The Ginkgo Bioworks Early Talent program is open to students who will return to their degree programs upon completion of their employment at Ginkgo. Candidates must be enrolled in a United States based institution and/or have work authorization in the United States to be eligible to participate.

Responsibilities
  • Support with creating purchase orders, deliveries/receipts, and accounts payable activities
  • Develop, manage and distribute reporting via dashboards including spend reporting and Procure to Pay operations metrics
  • Analyze spend review data and make recommendations to improve processes 
  • Support with development and rollout of training and SOPs
  • Review user support requests and provide support to resolve the issues. Define process recommendations to avoid future occurrences of the issue
  • Support with development of the Procurement project portfolio
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program
  • Current junior at time of application
  • Majoring in Procurement, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Finance or another Business-related field
  • Curious, passionate to build a career in Procurement and Supply chain function
  • Strong data analytics skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn independently and gain expertise
  • Ability to build and leverage strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and key suppliers

  • You are comfortable working in a fast paced environment and networking with new contacts/building relationships
