Junior Civil/Structural Engineer
Summary:
GSE Solutions leverages five decades of proven industry experience and is searching for a Junior Civil/Structural Engineer. GSE DP Engineering's specialize in providing consulting engineering services to Industrial and Commerical facilities and support for the nuclear utility industry including studies, drawing development and revisions, calculations, analysis, etc.
Essential Functions
- May include any of the following essential functions
- Develop drawings to document the designs, and PE seal the designs.
- Ensures no out-of-scope work is performed until approved by the client and DP Engineering.
- Out-of-scope items are identified and discussed with the Project Manager and Project Engineer before beginning work.
- Assists Responsible Engineer in support of assigned duties as required.
- Develop modifications primarily to existing nuclear power plants that increase reliability and efficiency.
- Many modifications involve upgrading obsolete controls systems from analog to digital controls.
- Supports Project Manager in preparation of scopes of work, budget, and schedules for proposals.
- Identifies any project issues that may affect project quality, schedule, or budget to the Project Manager and Responsible Engineer Js soon as it is discovered.
- May be required to take temporary assignments at customer locations to support business needs and requirements.
- Supports Project Manager in preparation of scopes of work, budget, and schedules for proposals.
- perform engineering calculations, technical drawings, plans, and specifications as required to support design work
- Participate in DPE Quality assurance program and reviews to ensure client deliverables meet DPE standards.
- Complete DPE Responsible Engineer training and associated certification programs.

- Basic working knowledge and ability using tools for scheduling, projecting, tracking, and managing time and dollars spent on projects.

- Must have strong knowledge of engineering services in the Nuclear industry
- Must have thorough, demonstrated understanding and command of the DPE Quality Assurance Program.
- Computers & Software – basic working knowledge and ability using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- A working knowledge of cyber security (NEI 08-09, NERC CIP standards), is desired but not required
- Must be capable of obtaining unescorted access at nuclear plants and other facilities. This includes successfully passing drug and alcohol screening, a background check, and plant access training
Education & Experience:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent experience in engineering-related activities in industries served by DPE.
- 3-5 years or more of experience in design engineering for a firm doing similar work as DPE supporting nuclear and industrial projects
- Working knowledge of the Standard Design Process and Standard Item Equivalency Process
- Strong working knowledge of Building Codes and National Electrical Codes required.
- Professional Engineers (PE) License preferred but not required.
