We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist/Chemist for our Environmental & Earth Sciences Practice in Bellevue, WA. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide technical support on projects involving the evaluation of contaminants in the environment. The candidate will manage and interpret large chemistry databases and contribute their expertise in fate and transport processes to support environmental forensic analyses.     
You will be responsible for:
  • Evaluating the fate and transport of environmental contaminants in various matrices including sediment, soil, groundwater, surface water, and air        
  • Handling large databases to interpret patterns, fingerprints, and distribution of various classes of chemicals at contaminated sites
  • Writing scientific reports to present findings to external clients
  • Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex and challenging problems

You will have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field
  • Expertise in the principles of environmental fate and transport processes including organic contaminant partitioning and transformation reactions
  • Experience with emerging contaminants such as PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, pharmaceuticals, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing and querying large environmental chemistry databases through use of scripting languages such as R or Python
  • Past experience with hands-on laboratory analysis of environmental contaminants such as PAHs, PCBs, chlorinated solvents, and/or pesticides
  • Knowledge of GIS principles is a plus
  • Strong technical skills demonstrated by past project experience and/or publication record
  • Project management experience including tracking of milestones and deliverables is a plus
  • Strong interest in career and professional development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively
