Laboratory Technician (6099)

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Natick, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for technical functions in support of the groups that utilize laboratories. Duties will include design and construction of test fixtures, nonstandard testing, and assisting engineers and scientists with inspections. You will also be responsible for assisting scientists and engineers with maintaining the laboratory, calibrating laboratory equipment, stocking general purpose lab supplies, and tracking storage of evidence and project materials. 

Your responsibilities will include: 
  • Building, conducting and documenting tests using thermal, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Performing various tasks in a lab environment
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and tools
  • Participating in keeping the facility clean
  • Assisting with organizing and tracking storage of evidence and project materials

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 
  • AA degree or equivalent technical experience
  • Fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on skills and ability to operate common power and machine tools (lathe, mill, band saw, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to quality and accuracy as well as the ability to work well independently
  • Must be versatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime, and travel as needed
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment such as optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) is a plus
  • Photography experience is a plus
  • Welding experience is a plus
