Development, Sustainability Grant Research and Writing Intern
We are seeking a Development, Sustainability Grant Research and Writing Intern who will work with our Development Team to assist with our grant research and grant writing. Whether you've written grants before or not, this is a great opportunity to learn a significant, employable and in-demand job skill that can make a big difference for the Alliance for Sustainability.
If you're interested in expanding your scope, you can assist with our work with major donors, contributing memberships, crowd-funding for our Kickstarter Campaign for our SHE Kindness School Program e-Book and new website, and developing fundraising events in conjunction with our 40th Anniversary year that begins in May 2023.
The intern should have a knowledge of sustainability, a commitment to practicing sustainability, health, equity and kindness, excellent writing and communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively. They will be working remotely and need to be self-motivated and responsible.

The hours and times of work are flexible (usually 8-15 hours a week and more over the summer) and this internship may offer the possibility of a full-time staff position. The intern will work with the President. Please understand that we receive a large number of internship requests and have a limited number of positions. Consequently, we give preference to interns who can work with us for longer periods of time so they can help us make more of a difference.
We are committed that our interns have an excellent experience in which they learn a lot, connect with other great interns from across the country, have fun and develop important skills and connections that will help you with your career and life. Our interns play key roles and we treat them as regular staff. We expect them to fulfill their responsibilities in terms of meetings and commitments. At the same time, we try to be as flexible as possible as we know interns have lots of other commitments. To that end, we seek to have open and honest communication.
We so wish we had the funds to offer each of our interns a paid internship but don't at this time. We are in the process of raising funds so that we can have our internships become paid and hopefully even hire them as paid staff. At the very least, you'll get great references, experiences, connections and a life-long network while making a large impact. In addition, we offer internship credit if you have your internship approved by your school prior to the start of your internship. Finally, if you work adequate hours you can qualify to receive a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
