Privacy Specialist (Remote) - 2356
Job Description
The Privacy Specialist assists the Privacy Manager with the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the organization’s privacy program.
Responsibilities:
- Promptly respond to and investigate privacy questions, complaints, incidents, and assist supervisors with the development and implementation of appropriate corrective action plans.
- Participate on, and/or advise project teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into newly developed processes.
- Analyze regulatory information and provide guidance to applicable departments and individuals, as needed.
- Author, evaluate, update, and collaborate on policies, procedures, and training to ensure they reflect current regulatory requirements.
- Implement privacy training and awareness programs.
- Develop and conduct proactive monitoring to detect and address privacy issues and interact with appropriate individuals to ensure timely resolution.
- Create and maintain appropriate records of tasks to support compliance with regulatory documentation and retention requirements.
- Continually improve knowledge of relevant regulatory topics and changes.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in a healthcare related field) and minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Privacy (CHP), or similar highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the health care delivery system as it relates to government agencies and the enforcement of associated federal and state regulations.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to set priorities and adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple projects within established time frames.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex issues and concepts orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively and confidentially advise and interact with Myriad executives, department directors and managers, Legal Department, staff, and external organizations and agencies.
Physical & Lifting Requirements
- Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
- Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating and observing.
- Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
