Privacy Specialist (Remote) - 2356

Job Description

The Privacy Specialist assists the Privacy Manager with the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the organization’s privacy program.

Responsibilities:

  1. Promptly respond to and investigate privacy questions, complaints, incidents, and assist supervisors with the development and implementation of appropriate corrective action plans.
  2. Participate on, and/or advise project teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into newly developed processes.
  3. Analyze regulatory information and provide guidance to applicable departments and individuals, as needed.
  4. Author, evaluate, update, and collaborate on policies, procedures, and training to ensure they reflect current regulatory requirements.
  5. Implement privacy training and awareness programs.
  6. Develop and conduct proactive monitoring to detect and address privacy issues and interact with appropriate individuals to ensure timely resolution.
  7. Create and maintain appropriate records of tasks to support compliance with regulatory documentation and retention requirements.
  8. Continually improve knowledge of relevant regulatory topics and changes.
  9. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree (preferably in a healthcare related field) and minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  2. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Privacy (CHP), or similar highly preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of the health care delivery system as it relates to government agencies and the enforcement of associated federal and state regulations.
  4. Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to set priorities and adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple projects within established time frames.
  6. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex issues and concepts orally and in writing.
  7. Ability to effectively and confidentially advise and interact with Myriad executives, department directors and managers, Legal Department, staff, and external organizations and agencies.

Physical & Lifting Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
  • Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating and observing.
  • Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
