Production Scientist, Protein Expression

Working as a member of the team responsible for the production of New England Biolabs (NEB) protein expression, proteomics and glycobiology product line, this individual will be primarily responsible for supporting the manufacturing of both existing and potential products and provide technical support.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assay formulations of glycobiology, proteomics and protein expression products and related reagents.
  • Perform stringent Quality Control assays and assist in the development of new QC assays.
  • Track and maintain stocked inventory of standard over the counter (OTC) products.
  • Coordinate and assist in the production of custom orders.
  • Adhere to protocols and maintain proper documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and plan experiments.
  • Track and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents .
  • Assist customers with technical inquiries about glycobiology, proteomics and protein expression products.
  • Assist in the creation of supporting literature for glycobiology, proteomics and protein expression products.

Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the life science industry; protein science or glycobiology experience preferred.
  • Experience with standard protein science applications and workflows (i.e., SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, TLC, HPLC, protein characterizations and assays).
  • Ability to independently design and execute experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data.
  • Proven “good hands” at the bench and an ability to perform careful and consistent experiments.
  • Capable of self-management within a fast-paced team framework.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal and deadline oriented with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Have a strong work ethic, emphasizing both efficiency and quality of work.
