DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Location: Santa Clara
Job Term: Full-Time
 
 
The Opportunity:
Picarro is seeking a well-versed DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer with capability of building, automating, and supporting scalable mission critical could-based applications and services. This platform supports customers worldwide to provide advanced leak detection in gas pipeline infrastructure to reduce methane emissions and improve public safety.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience designing and building CI/CD pipeline with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • 2-4 years of experience in DevOps/SRE, systems engineering, build/release/deployment automation.
  • Create and maintain AWS based services and infrastructure, leveraging infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Hands-on knowledge of ArcGIS web platform, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analytics, or similar geospatial technology.
  • Applied knowledge of AWS services including VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, S3, RDS and Route 53.
  • Experience in building distributed, server-based infrastructure supporting a high volume of transactions in a mission critical environment.
  • Excellent understanding of microservices, message bus architecture and data processing technologies.
  • Implement CI/CD workflows for GIS-based web applications and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated ability to write programs using a high-level programming languages or scripting, such as Python, Java, Shell, Golang.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on small, focused teams to complete critical milestones under pressure with tight deadlines.
 
Recommended Qualifications:

  • AWS Cloud Architect and/or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certifications are highly desired.
  • ESRI ArcGIS training and certification preferred. Experience with FME or GeoServer a plus.
  • Excellent skills in the design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with a system observability stack (logging, tracing, metrics, alert).
  • Proven capabilities using a CI/CD environment: Jenkins, Teamcity, etc.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills working within a complex heterogeneous systems and applications environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
