Postdoctoral Fellow – Cardiometabolic Disorders

Live
This could be your everyday
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will be provided with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of human therapeutics.
The Cardiometabolic Disorders Research Department at Amgen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study how fibroblasts in the heart control cardiac function during homeostasis and disease.

The initial focus of the postdoctoral fellow is to determine the different cardiac fibroblast subpopulations present in homeostatic and disease states using state-of-the-art single-cell omics tools combined with bioinformatic analysis. Subsequently, utilizing the laboratory’s advanced biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques combined with genetic engineering and in vivo animal models, the postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to interrogate the role of specific fibroblast subpopulations in the development of cardiac fibrosis. This position is ideal for those seeking to understand the fundamentals of therapeutic discovery and translational biology while honing their skills as an independent investigator focused on basic science.

The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research, to evaluate and interpret results of scientific experiments and complex, integrated datasets, and to present at scientific conferences and publish in leading journals. The successful candidate will operate in the context of a highly collaborative environment, with ample opportunities to interact with multi-disciplinary functions including Genome Analysis Unit, Oncology and Inflammation, Biologics and Translational Science.
The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.
