Artistic and Equity Coordinator

Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Artistic and Equity Coordinator. This full-time benefits-eligible position requires someone who has demonstrated administrative support skill, as well having demonstrated cultural competency in the areas of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism and antibias and the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist organization and assist in dismantling structural racism in theatre. Applicants for this role should have exceptional attention to detail, communication and collaboration skills, and demonstrated time-management, and problem-solving skills.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Artistic and Equity Coordinator is a key member of the Artistic staff and the Equity and Community Partnerships team primarily responsible for coordinating and supporting activities of the Artistic department, including new play development, and assisting with both CTC’s internal justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) efforts, as well as our community partnership work. This position reports to the Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships and provides that leader with scheduling, administrative and external communication/coordinator support. This role provides logistical support for workshops, readings and community meetings, including travel arrangements and day-of support. They assist the Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships in allyship training at the start of the rehearsal process for each production and participate in all CTC anti-racism/anti-bias committees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Artistic Support 
• Coordinate season planning meetings incorporating Production, Artistic and Administrative leaders
• Provide scheduling support to Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships
• Support Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships’ work as liaison with Artistic collaborators, such as playwrights, directors, designers, dramaturgs and other artists, coordinating meetings and sending communications as needed
• Assist Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships in research of work of artists in the theatre field such as playwrights, directors, designers and dramaturgs, with a focus on those whose perspectives are underrepresented in theatre
• Coordinate travel arrangements and meeting scheduling for dramaturgs for projects and provide institutional support for both dramaturgs and commissioned playwrights and provide logistical support to the Casting Director as needed for auditions

Production Support
• Participate in the start of the rehearsal process, assisting the Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships in allyship training and creation of room commitments that reflect CTC’s culture
• Assist in coordination of postmortem process for each production, scheduling meetings for all relevant Artistic, Production and Administrative departments

New Play Development
• Organize, and assist in scheduling all workshops, readings and conversations regarding new play development, including travel, hotels, schedules, per diems for traveling artists and fulling day-of needs such as copying scripts 
• Work with the Generation Now Fellow to coordinate CTC’s support of the Generation Now project
• Work with Business Office to ensure the timely pay out of invoices associated with new play development activities (workshops, readings, etc.)
• Assist Associate Artistic Director/Director of Equity and Community Partnerships in contracting of actors for workshops and readings as needed

Community Partnerships and Engagement
• Serve as support to CTC’s community partners and maintain strong lines of communication
• Coordinate logistics for meetings and events with CTC community partners
• Support the Associate Artistic Director and Director of Equity and Community Partnerships in tracking and stewarding community organizations and their relationship with CTC over time
• Host and facilitate post-show discussions and talkbacks, including Student Matinees, on a periodic basis

Support of CTC’s Internal JEDI Efforts
• Participate in CTC’s anti-racist/anti-bias committees, providing support as needed, such as taking notes and/or meeting minutes
• Provide support for all CTC Employee Resource Groups as needed
• Provide support in coordination, scheduling, and implementation of ACT One employee personal and professional development
• Provide support for the allyship training at first rehearsal for Education Department productions, such as Institute Intensives

Collaborate with all departments in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist/anti-bias theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

• Assist with monitoring and ensuring access, representation, participation, and decision making for historically marginalized communities in the Artistic Department, new play development projects, and in all aspects of CTC’s operations
• Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC’s workplace and the lives of CTC employees
• Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of systemic bias against people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIAP+ community and people who are economically under resourced.
• Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist and biased workplace practices and policies
• Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

Other important duties
• Proactively contribute to CTC’s mission to educate, challenge, and inspire young people and their communities
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
• Demonstrated administrative support skills, such as scheduling and event coordination and calendar management  
• Demonstrated cultural competency in the areas of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-bias
• Demonstrated communication and customer service abilities
• Demonstrated ability/willingness to lead/facilitate group discussions preferred
• Ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist/anti-bias organization and work to dismantle structural racism in theatre

COVID-19 Vaccine
All employees of CTC are required to be fully vaccinated against the virus that causes COVID-19. COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this full-time position is between $44,000 and $49,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b)-retirement savings plan.
