Foundation Research Intern (Fully Remote)

The Carroll Center for the Blind is seeking a professional, detail oriented, organized, Foundation Research Intern to assist with the execution of our fiscal year 2023 (7/22-6/23) grant process. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in research and fundraising along with the opportunity to be exposed to the multifaceted experience of a development department. Come join us and gain a strong working knowledge of research-driving fundraising and grant writing. The role will focus on foundation and corporate giving research in order to access a pipeline of new funders for the Carroll Center for the Blind. This position will run from September 2022 through December 2022 with the opportunity to extend beyond this time. This position is eligible for college credit. We are happy to consider a candidate based anywhere in the United States.
 
ABOUT US
Each year, the Carroll Center for the Blind helps nearly 1,300 blind or visually impaired children, adults and senior citizens gain the skills they need to live active and fulfilling lives. Our Newton campus houses our rehabilitation program, computer training classes, low vision store, and administrative offices. A large portion of our programs are services conducted in public schools, clients’ homes, and their communities.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Researching new grant opportunities through the weekly Grant Watch Publication, looking for potential new funding.
  • Researching new grant opportunities through the Philanthropy of Massachusetts database, looking for potential new funding.
  • Updating and maintaining grant calendar and grant database.
  • Reviewing/editing funding proposals.
  • Assisting with the collection of information for reporting requirements.
  • Assist with data input into Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge as needed.
  • Support the Development Team with various projects.
  • Support the development of donor reports.
  • Additional duties as needed.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal/written, computer and organizational skills.
  • Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel & Google Docs.
