Temporary Chemical Technician

The Temporary Chemical Technician will work in an R&D environment to help scientists handle a variety of laboratory work. You will need to complete tasks in a systematic fashion, handle issues and challenges as they arise, remain flexible to changes, and help make decisions that will lead to the best results.  You will support multiple team members based on need. This position is a temporary 6 month contract working 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

·      Handle lab-scale chemical processes including weighing, mixing, heating, filtering, pumping, vacuum-degassing, etc.

·      Prepare liquid mixtures of solvents, particles, and polymers, etc. accurately following formulation worksheets and SOP documents

·      Perform measurements on samples with existing instrument setups which can include optical microscopy, adhesion, viscosity, particle size, pH, sheet resistance, etc., for quality control

·      Make film stacking structures with bench-top coating and lamination equipment

·      Inspect coating quality and identify defects

·      Input data into spreadsheets and the database

·      Effectively communicate observations to scientists

·      Work safely in the lab adhering to EH&S best practices

Qualifications:

·      Minimum of an Associates degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or related fields

·      Hands-on experience in chemical handling, fluid preparation, mixing processes, and testing

·      Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

·      Able to multi-tasks and pay close attention to detail

·      Able to understand the fundamentals of materials and properties upon training

·      Self-motivated with a desire to learn new skills and flexibility to adapt to change

·      Computer literate with knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software and Word processing

·      Able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

·      Goal-oriented strong team player with a positive attitude
