Postdoctoral Fellow - Machine Learning - Prescient Design
Job Description
The Machine Learning group within Prescient Design seeks exceptional postdoctoral fellows who have a demonstrated research background in machine learning, a passion for independent research and technical problem-solving in the life sciences, and a proven ability to develop and implement ideas from research. We are looking for researchers interested in developing deep generative modeling approaches for design problems, including proteins and small molecules.
The group provides a dynamic and challenging environment for cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research including access to heterogeneous data sources, close links to top academic institutions around the world, as well as internal Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) partners and research units. Our mission is to develop and apply methods in designing novel macromolecules. Researchers will primarily focus on the deep learning subfield of machine learning but should be broadly interested in methods capable of effective representation learning that can help drive and sharpen the research questions we study. Fundamentally, our research goals allow us to collaborate closely with and–contribute uniquely to–many different project teams across the company.
The successful candidate will be a recent PhD graduate in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology/Chemistry, or a related discipline. Qualified applications are expected to have a strong publication record and experience contributing to research communities, including conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, etc. Strong programming skills in languages like Python, C++, and Java and experience with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX are also required.
For New York-based applicants, the expected salary range for this position is $57,400 - $106,00 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits listed below.
