2022-2023: Land Intern – Land Ownership & Systems

Land Intern – Land Ownership & Systems Job Description:
As a Land Intern in Land Ownership & Systems, you'll have the opportunity to gain valuable real-life work experience while working within an exploration or asset team, and you'll have the chance to work on real-world projects with significant business impact.

As a Land Intern in Land Ownership & Systems you will:

  • Determine Divisions of Ownership by examining title documents, legal opinions, leases, operating agreements, unit agreements, pooling, and spacing orders, etc.
  • Create and administer Company (and others’) Divisions of Ownership for revenues, royalties, rents, taxes and joint interest billings in Land and Revenue Systems.
  • Understand Ownership transfer documents and process Working Interest Ownership changes in Land and Revenue systems.
  • Gain knowledge of: Oil and gas statutes, case law and federal, Indian and state regulations, Accounting and oil and gas operational processes, Oil and gas lease, revenue, royalty, tax and other contractual rights and obligations, processes and practices.
  • Understand oil and gas marketing arrangements and their impact on Divisions of Ownership.
  • Develop and demonstrate skills in various Land, Revenue and MS Office computer applications that are necessary to perform daily work.
  • Provide Land input to multidisciplinary teams to help stakeholders make informed, strategic business decisions on agreements and land ownership issues.
  • Coordinate resolution of owner inquiries, payment disputes and audit issues.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills within work group and in partnering with stakeholders.
  • Apply Quality principles and techniques to day-to-day work and demonstrate Chevron Way.
  • Able to clearly communicate results to supervisor and peers both verbally and in writing.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to work processes.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
  • Analytical skills to review leases, contracts, title opinions and chain of title documents to establish proper payees and decimals.
  • Planning and organizing: Establish courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Communication: Express thoughts effectively, both verbally and in writing; two-way communication.
