Data Engineer Intern - Summer 2022

Robotics Operations Data Solutions Team is seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer (DE) Intern In this role, you will be building complex data engineering and business intelligence applications using the AWS big data stack. You should have a deep expertise and passion in working with large data sets, building complex data processes, performance tuning, bringing together data from disparate data stores and programmatically identifying patterns. You should have excellent communication skills to be able to work with business owners to design and deliver technical solutions. You will provide guidance and support for other engineers with industry best practices and direction. The data you will work with ranges from mechanical dimensional data to results of complex electro-mechanical tests, to supply chain and logistics data with a little bit of everything in between. A successful candidate will have strong data mining and data infrastructure design skills, and is comfortable working from concept definition through to execution. This role will build the tools and support structures needed to create production tools to support Robotics Operations.

As a DE Intern in this team, you will be responsible for developing data architecture components that scale for growing data needs. You will solve big data warehousing problems on a massive scale. You will apply cloud-based AWS services to solve challenging problems around: big data processing, data warehouse design, and enabling self-service. You will focus on automation and optimization for all areas of DW/ETL maintenance and deployment. You will work closely with the business intelligence engineers, data scientists and the software development teams on many non-standard and unique business problems and use creative problem solving to deliver actionable output. The role of a Data Engineer in Amazon requires excellent technical skills in order to develop systems and tools to process data as well as, but not limited to, the ability to analyze data. A qualified candidate must have a demonstrated ability to manage large-scale data modeling projects, identify requirements and tools, and build data warehousing solutions that are scalable. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to learn new concepts/frameworks.

This role is a 3-month internship to join AR full-time (40 hours/week) from May 23, 2022 to August 26, 2022. Amazon Robotics internship opportunities will be based in the Greater Boston Area, in our two state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough and North Reading, MA. Both campuses provide a unique opportunity for interns to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.
