Energy Storage Analytics Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Energy Storage Analytics Manager is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining energy storage management tools and reports, conforming with market rules and operational performance requirements and aiming at maximizing revenues under multiple use cases and configurations (hybrid and standalone; behind and front-of-the-meter). The person in this role will be the main point of contact of the Team with ISOs/RTOs, Energy Management System vendors, Operations and Technical Departments.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Survey and ensure up-to-date proper modeling of the market rules governing energy storage participation in all    relevant wholesale markets. 
  • Track regulatory developments related to energy storage at the federal and state levels with commercial           implications.
  • Assist in the development of applications intended to collect/monitor real time data from Energy Storage Systems.
  • Responsible for the development of forecasting models for nodal energy and system-wide ancillary services prices  in all relevant markets, implementing best industry practices.
  • Support the development of optimization models and strategies for energy storage market participation.
  • Assist in the development of applications capable of dispatching Energy Storage Systems to maximize revenues    from projects.
  • Make recommendations intended at managing capacity degradation of energy storage projects, based on best     practices/findings in operational data.
  • Produce reports with relevant information on energy storage systems performance and market participation.
  • Support origination and/or energy sales efforts as needed, related to energy storage systems.
  • Work as part of a team, supporting and leading initiatives that enhance the group’s capabilities and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Travel – 20% or as needed
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 6 + years of experience in the renewables sector is preferred
  • Preferred: Master in Data Science or similar.
  • Proficient knowledge of Python, SQL, Azure, AWS and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with code development and software maintenance.
  • Preferred: Proficient knowledge of Linear Programming and Mixed-Integer Programming and Algebraic Modeling Languages as AIMMS, GAMS, or Pyomo
  • Preferred: Experience with optimization models, value engineering, cost benefit analysis, or similar
  • Preferred: Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching while on project sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
