2022 Summer Compliance Law Clerk Intern

AVANGRID, an innovative and growing energy company, needs a creative and ambitious student to join our Corporate Compliance team. You will work alongside members of the Compliance Division on important projects to ensure applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards are understood and followed. Examples include reducing the opportunity for fraud and theft, avoiding conflicts of interest, and ensuring separation between the company’s regulated utility distribution and unregulated renewables generation businesses. Your day may include helping develop employee trainings, conducting investigations, or monitoring data and risk information.

Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Learn about Avangrid’s business and help achieve the objectives of the compliance program by working on projects that promote compliance (like presentations, trainings, data monitoring, and investigations).
  • Work with the Compliance Division team to develop skills and knowledge critical to understanding and reducing compliance risk, like legal frameworks, training curriculum development, and project management.
  • Work closely with other groups in the company, such as regulatory, legal, human resources, and business teams.
  • Work in an innovative and energized environment with a chance to make an impact.
  • Create a comprehensive presentation of your work completed during the program for presentation to the wider organization at the conclusion of the program.

Education & Experience Required:
·        Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree or a master's/professional degree in accounting, regulation, risk management, finance, or business.
  • One or more summers remaining prior to the completion of undergraduate or master’s degree.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the requirement for future sponsorship.

Please also note that AVANGRID currently has a COVID-19 vaccination Policy in place that, among other requirements, requires all employees to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status.
