Wind Turbine Generator Package Lead (Hybrid remote work schedule)

BACKGROUND
This role will serve on the staff of the Mayflower Wind Energy LLC (Mayflower) joint venture team. Mayflower is a 50/50 partnership of EDPR Offshore NA LLC (EDPR) and Shell New Energies LLC (Shell).
Mayflower is the leaseholder of BOEM OCS-0521 off the coast of Massachusetts, an area of 128k acres capable to deliver around 1.6GW. This position will be among senior members of the project team accountable to develop the project to reach final investment decision and take the project through construction and operation in the period 2020-2025.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Wind Turbine Generator package lead is responsible for FEED, technical integration and optimization of WTG selection, supporting negotiations on WTG Capex & O&M contracts, and ultimately execution of the EPCI of the WTG package. This includes WTG selection, assessments, design and installation concept in the various phases of projects. Successful managing input and interfaces with contracting & procurement, project services and cross discipline (electrical, civil, metocean and geotechnical) are a large contributor to success.
This role will be based at Mayflower’s office located in Boston area. US domestic and international travel expected (up to 15%).
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
·        Providing technical expertise for wind turbines for Mayflower, including opportunity realization, due diligence, and life cycle value assessments
·        Independent implementation and management of the prequalification of WTG (components) in the form of audits and technical due diligence as well as first point of contact for suppliers.
·        Involvement in Technical Risk Assessments of current WTGs, focusing on Risks & Opportunities and OPEX.
·        Independent implementation and leadership in the evaluation of WTG design concepts, technical solutions and risks as a basis for technical and commercial decisions,
·        Preparation of tender documents, evaluation of tenders and support in contract negotiations with wind turbine manufacturers.  Coordination of technical negotiations internally and externally.
·        Responsible for the evaluation of the documentation of wind turbines and identification of deviations from purchasing specifications and quality-critical parameters.
·        Application and further development of relevant regulations etc. and Best Practices considering Lessons learnt as well as identification of development fields
·        Close liaison with logistics manager to align strategies and plans for the entire WTG supply chain for Mayflower, including manufacturing, logistics and installation.
·        Investigation of complex claims and technical facts, preparation of suggestions for improvement.
·        Identifying technical optimization potential at component level for current commercial offshore wind turbine platforms, whilst recognizing supply chain constraints.
·        Working with external consultants, suppliers and contractors to conduct detailed studies where necessary
·        Up to 15%, domestically with occasional international travel
Job Dimensions:  
·        Package manager for > 1 Bn USD WTG contracts post FID in 2023.
·        Strong interface role between field layout, electrical, foundations, logistics, construction, O&M, and regulatory        teams.
·        5-10 indirect reports within project, direct reports after contract award.
·        Reporting to the Mayflower Delivery Director
Travel: Significant US domestic and international travel expected (up to 30%)
REQUIRED
·       Strong personal leadership in HSSE and Quality
·       B.Sc degree or higher in relevant engineering discipline (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or in a          comparable field)
·       Proven track record of WTG package management for an offshore wind project.
·       Proven track record in managing and delivering a large offshore construction contract >250 mln USD.
·       Experience building and leading teams.
·       10+ years’ experience in offshore wind.
·       Above-average knowledge and experience in the construction, functioning and operation of wind turbines and their      components
·       Extensive knowledge of the application of relevant regulations and industry standards, such as IEC61400, DNV GL        and Best Practice
·       Broad knowledge of the abilities of US and European contractors in offshore wind.
·       Owns a good industrial network and the ability to use and expand it
·       High personal responsibility and safe appearance
·       Very good analytical and conceptual skills as well as the ability to think innovatively and strategically
·       Good communication skills and high social competence
·       Evidence of your commitment to HSSE.
