R8293 Graduate Intern - Agricultural Carbon Study

Successful candidates will research and assist in developing a comprehensive research roadmap toward the goal of substantially decarbonating the agriculture sector, to meet the goals of 50% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 and 80% by 2050. In addition to identifying the technology, research, and developments needs, the intern will identify leading universities, national laboratories, and private sector organizations that are working and leading the field in this arena.

The roadmap will identify both near-term technology deployment needs toward achieving the 50% reduction by 2030 goals, as well as longer term research and development needs to achieve the deeper decarbonization objective of 80% by 2050. The challenge will be to integrate advanced agronomic approaches into decarbonizing agriculture, while meeting the diverse goals of the agricultural sector and maintaining food and bioeconomy feedstock price neutrality. The decarbonization objective needs to be in harmony with the energy/water nexus for agriculture as well. The ultimate goal is to publish this roadmap in a peer-reviewed scientific journal as a significant publication on the pathways and challenges toward decarbonization of the agricultural sector.

Responsibility
Preferred candidate will be majoring in Agricultural Engineering or similar.
