What You Will Do…
Interns have real company projects that are assigned during the summer. Projects you could potentially work on include:
·        Development of downhole communication network
·        Develop embedded firmware for mud pulse telemetry systems which would include developing motor control algorithms, and implementation
·        Develop embedded firmware for electro-magnetic telemetry systems which would include
o  Developing and implementing new encoding and decoding schemes (e.g., PSK based)
o  Developing and implementing new noise cancellation algorithms
  • Assist in the design, development, testing and support of electrical and/or electronic circuits for surface equipment
  • Power Electronics - Develop DC/DC or AC/DC Power Converters using state-of-the art power electronic devices
 
What You Need to Know…
  • Demonstrated skills in analog and digital circuit design and in embedded systems programming (especially C)
·        Assembly and C experience on Micro Controllers
·        Programming: C, C# and Python
·        PC applications that communicate with embedded processors
·        Low level communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Advanced familiarity with data acquisition instrumentation and methods
  • Working knowledge with data analysis tools such as Matlab
  • Working knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, terminology, and trends in firmware and/or electronics engineering
  • Power Electronics - Knowledge of various topologies of AC/DC or DC/DC power electronics-based converters
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
