Oil Market Analyst - Remote position

Rapidan Energy Group Seeks an Oil Market Analyst

Our team provides differentiated energy market insight and research to a breadth of clients, including leading corporations and financial market participants.
 
We are seeking an Oil Market Analyst to assist our growing Global Oil Service (GOS) team. Little to no prior oil market analysis experience is required, but quantitative skills and passion to learn are a must
 
The Analyst will support the GOS team’s global oil balance practice by, among other responsibilities, assessing total oil and product demand, organizing relevant datasets, tracking production and inventory levels, forecasting prices, and helping to put together Rapidan’s Oil Market Report (ROMR) on a monthly basis. The Analyst will also enhance the Team’s portfolio by researching energy industry and market developments, maintaining and improving proprietary databases and models, as well as writing and editing short client reports, and expanding coverage across the natural gas space.

Key responsibilities:
• Maintain, improve, and build proprietary datasets and models in Microsoft Excel
• Collect, organize, and analyze statistical data across the oil and gas value chain, with a particular focus on global supply and demand
• Closely monitor oil supply and demand-related news
• With guidance from the GOS Manager, maintain supply/demand models for global balance
• Conduct specialized research for specific assignments and ad hoc projects
• Prepare and proofread a variety of concise written reports
• Help other team members by fact checking their analysis – with a particular emphasis on quantitative aspects
• Assist with preparation of PowerPoint presentations, including chart design

Required skills:
• Outstanding quantitative skills and mastery of Microsoft Excel (including building charts and tables); competency with Python a strong plus
• Demonstrated ability to organize and convey complex analysis in clear, concise, written reports (finalists may be required to complete a test to assess writing, editing and Excel skills)
• Experience creating PowerPoint decks and conveying analysis in a concise and engaging manner
• Superb attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple projects, and produce analysis under tight deadlines
• Efficient, dedicated, self-starter able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Exceptional English comprehension, speaking, writing and editing skills
 
Required education:
• BA/BS required; major in economics or a related field preferred
 
Required experience and skills:
• 0-2 years’ experience
• Outstanding aptitude for data collection, organization, and analysis
