Spring Associate - DG Accounting

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The DG Accounting intern position will gain experience with all facets of accounting, financial reporting, and treasury management for an independent power producer (IPP) as a member of the DG accounting team in New York. This role will utilize ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite and SAP. The intern will have the opportunity to learn various processes and procedures involved in the accounting function such as; internal controls, electricity generation and SREC billing, accounting for construction and development entities, vendor management, investor reporting, systems integration, and accounting for income taxes. This is a 10+ week part-time and paid internship that will start on or around February 07, 2022.

Main accountabilities:
The DG Accounting intern will assist with the following:
  • preparation of quarterly internal financial statements
  • transaction entry into SAP ERP system
  • vendor invoice review and coding
  • accounts receivable cash applications to open invoices
  • research budget-to-actual variances
  • research accounting treatment of transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS
  • coordinate with tax preparers to facilitate timely tax compliance
Minimum qualifications:
  • Undergraduate accounting or business major entering Junior or Senior year or enrolled in an MBA or accounting-related graduate program.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP (and IFRS, preferred)
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred, specifically Excel.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
