Senior Cloud Engineer

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team of cloud, DevOps, hardware, software, and security engineers. You will advise and coordinate between customers and a team of 50 developers (and growing). You will be part of our employee-owned international research and engineering company. ARA is recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences, and you will be on this team.
- You will design and implement an architecture that:
- Uses Red Hat’s Kubernetes distribution OpenShift as the foundation
- Automates access to a suite of shared services, including software development tools.
- Automates deployment and upgrades of the environment using infrastructure and configuration as code
- Automates compliance on restrictions to cloud services
- You will work with customers and developers to understand and elicit requirements and build intuitive, interactive, and flexible solutions to complex problems
- You will be working closely with tech leads, developers, and DevOps engineers so a team player personality and excellent written/oral communication skills will be essential
Senior Cloud Engineer Requirements for the position are as follows:
- U.S. Citizen with eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
- 7 – 9 years of relevant cloud experience with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or a related field OR 5-7 years of relevant experience with Master’s
- Experience with AWS or Azure
- Experience deploying and administering Kubernetes
- Experience with IaC/CAC technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Salt
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, Node/Javascript
Senior Cloud Engineer Preferences:
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Rancher
- Active DoD security clearance
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with networking, especially with debugging connection issues
