Entry Level and Early Career Public Health Analyst

The Biostatistics and Epidemiology Division at RTI International is collecting resumes for upcoming entry-level and early career Public Health Analysts. These candidates are typically recent or upcoming Bachelor or Master level graduates and will start Spring/Summer 2022.

Who we are:
RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. The Biostatistics and Epidemiology Division comprises a collaborative, diverse group of researchers with backgrounds ranging from bioinformatics, data science, statistics, epidemiology, and study and data management. We use this expertise to lead coordinating centers for multicenter studies, conduct observational field studies, and to serve as subject matter experts for a variety of projects across RTI.

What you would do:
In this position, you will provide technical and administrative support to Principal Investigators, Project Directors, and Team Leaders for a variety of public health-related projects. Specific responsibilities may include:
•   Gathering background data and information to support proposal and project efforts
•   Coordinating and scheduling conference calls; writing and distributing meeting minutes
•   Assembling and distributing various materials, including study supplies and data collection forms to field or clinical sites
•   Contributing to and/or preparing portions of technical memoranda, reports, and presentations
•   Preparing training materials; participating in and/or lead trainings
•   Performing literature reviews and library searches
•   Managing correspondence and project communications
•   Liaising with internal departments such as procurement, finance, accounts payable, and information technology services
•   Supporting data management efforts; entering data into electronic systems
•   Collecting and reviewing data obtained through observations, interviews, medical record abstraction, or other sources according to established guidelines; editing data as required
•   Performing quality assurance and quality checks on data to ensure accuracy

Who we are looking for:
Candidates who apply should have the following credentials:
•   BA/BS degree in Public Health or related field
•   Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
•   Highly organized with the ability to complete multiple tasks and deliverables within tight timeframes and during periods with competing priorities
•   Ability to work successfully and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., data managers, statisticians, and principal investigators)
•   Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams 
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills 
•   To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the Unites States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Desired Qualifications:
•   Ability to actively participate on study teams and to assist project managers and directors on a variety of study types
•   Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and outside clients
•   Ability to comprehend and follow specific instructions and guidelines, taking initiative when appropriate
•   Possess hands-on data management skills, including intermediate or higher-level skills with programs such as Excel and Visio, and experience with database systems or statistical software packages, such as BSI, SQL, SAS
•   Motivated to advance
•   Enthusiasm to work on a variety of project types and research areas
