Junior Landscape Designer (full time)

H. T. Harvey & Associates, an ecological consulting firm based in Northern California, is looking for collaborative and creative landscape designers to join the landscape architecture group in our San Francisco Bay Area office. This position is based out of our Los Gatos, California office.

About Us
The leaders in our landscape architecture group have unparalleled experience designing habitat restoration, open space, park, and ecology-driven projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We work closely with the company’s restoration ecologists as well as with wildlife ecologists, botanists, and arborists. We are highly collaborative, fostering a strong culture of mentorship and support, learning from each other as well as from the company’s other groups.

Our Work
Our group’s work focuses on restoring native habitats and creating nature experiences in open space and corporate settings that are both engaging and educational. For example, we:
  • Lead a team in the planning and design of a 9-acre park, on the San Francisco Bay shoreline. The future park will have new tidal marsh and transition zone habitats and educate the public on sea level rise and Bay ecology.
  • Integrate pollinator habitat and native landscapes into urban campus planning and design for large companies in the region.
  • Work with the City of San Jose’s Department of Parks to assist with planning, monitoring, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of mitigation projects.
  • Collaborate with our restoration ecologists and hydrologist project partners to design a 100+ acre riparian floodplain and California sycamore restoration site.

What you’ll do
As a member of the landscape architecture group, you’ll have the opportunity to analyze site conditions, develop conceptual designs and construction documents, prepare client and public presentation materials, oversee construction, and participate in long-term monitoring. Project managers will mentor you and help you develop your skills as a landscape designer. You will also have the opportunity to work with other H. T. Harvey & Associates ecologists to deepen your knowledge of the habitats and species of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
