Lab Systems Analyst - 173730

Environment:
The Moody Discovery Laboratory focuses on understanding the B cell responses during the earliest stages of HIV, influenza, and syphilis infection, providing pre-clinical and translational support for downstream human clinical studies that fall within DHVI’s mission of performing research against infectious diseases that impact global health. The lab is a resource for both nonhuman and human cellular phenotyping, flow characterization, staining and analysis at DHVI. Further, the Moody Discovery Laboratory performs a variety of assays to support the DHVI mission; including ELISA and ELLA based assays, RNA/DNA extraction for sequencing, and production of influenza and syphilis proteins. The Lab Systems Analyst will source, test and manage software applications/tools to support multi-disciplinary research in the Moody Discovery Laboratory to develop vaccines and medical countermeasures against emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, as well as integrate Moody Discovery Laboratory data into new and existing databases.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop protocols and implement workflows for uploading data from internal and external collaborators into new and existing database portals, communicating with data teams to define and refine what information is deposited, as well as data validation.
  • Perform data transformation and data visualization using various platforms (e.g. R software) and communicate findings with multiple scientific teams.
  • Participate in multiple discussions with internal and external stakeholders to review and prioritize data deliverables, understanding scientific questions under discussion.
  • Create report templates, inform data reports, and draft final reports for data analysis and data disposition.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, build trust and relationships within and across teams, collect requirements and ensure solutions/responses meet users’ needs.
  • Coordinate with Moody Discovery Laboratory Leadership to write and maintain protocols in an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) system (e.g. SLIMS).
  • Work with laboratory staff to help develop, test, and maintain lab automation workflows to integrate laboratory equipment/analyzers with liquid handling robots (eg Beckman Coulter, Tecan), an Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN) system and an Electronic Content Management (ECM) system (e.g. SLIMS, LDMS).
  • Develop, test, and maintain workflows for the automated transfer of information between the ELN/ECM and external systems such as RedCAP, SAP, and EMMES Advantage eClinical.
  • Work with DHVI regulatory teams and laboratories to facilitate queries into the inventory databases while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to all appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, computer science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience including experience with scripting languages such as Javascript, Perl, PHP, Python, visual basic, etc.
  • Willingness to access a Biosafety Level 2 or 3 laboratory to observe experimental procedures.
  • Willing to complete all CITI training modules to access and protect PHI.
 
Required Qualifications at this Level
  • Education/Training: Work requires a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Work requires one year of laboratory work experience or laboratory computer system experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
