Research Assistant
Dr. Krista Kelly, Director of the Vision and Neurodevelopment Laboratory at the Retina Foundation of the Southwest in Dallas, Texas, is seeking applications for a full-time Research Assistant position. The initial term of employment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding. Salary will be $38,350/year plus benefits.
Dr. Kelly’s lab is interested in the functional consequences of pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus, anisometropia, and amblyopia. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Kelly and will be involved in projects studying the effects of these conditions on reading and eye-hand coordination in children. This position is ideal for recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g. psychology, kinesiology, biology, etc) who are taking a bridge year and/or who aspire to attend a graduate research program in the future.

About Retina Foundation
The Retina Foundation, a private nonprofit research institute, is making a difference in the lives of children and adults living with vision threatening eye conditions. We have five laboratories participating in more than 35 clinical research studies and providing more than 2,000 vision assessments each year completely free of charge. About Krista Kelly, PhD:
Dr. Krista Kelly received her Ph.D. in Psychology from York University (Toronto, Ontario) in 2014 before joining the Retina Foundation of the Southwest as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Crystal Charity Ball Pediatric Vision Laboratory. She became the Director of the Vision and Neurodevelopment Laboratory in Aug 2019. Dr. Kelly is working with children with pediatric eye conditions, focusing her efforts on the impact reduced vision has on reading speed, eye-hand coordination, and motor skills.
