Product Marketing Manager, OEM, Customized Products and Solutions

Using extensive knowledge of customer needs and market trends, accountable for developing and implementing the strategic direction and global marketing tactics to drive the revenue and brand growth for a full range of customized products and services within the New England Biolabs’ product portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong knowledge of the general market trends and customer needs for NEB’s customized solutions group products and services, with a specific focus on the regulated markets segment including molecular diagnostics and vaccine/therapeutics manufacturing
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies that match these customer needs with the specific benefits of NEB’s customization capabilities, including GMP-grade enzyme production, to create unique and sustainable market positions.
  • Identify new market opportunities for the use of NEB products in regulated markets (e.g. diagnostics, therapeutics, clinical sequencing, etc.) and develop strategies to pursue them.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of creative promotional tactics that align themselves with the buying process of the customer, and drive brand awareness.
  • Develop and implement lead generation strategies
  • Internal training, including international subsidiaries, on customized solutions product and service offerings
  • Work with the OEM & Customized Solutions group to create pricing strategies for the customized product and solutions offerings. 
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of competitors’ products, price, service offerings and market activities so that counterstrategies and tactics can be developed quickly to protect and grow market shares.
  • Monitor the performance – revenue, profitability, market share, service, support – of products and services to assess what changes in strategy or tactics might be necessary, as well as building up a knowledge base of best practices to increase the success rate of future plans.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of core life science disciplines; biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, etc.
  • MBA or equivalent on-the-job training, when supplemented by external business skills training with a focus on marketing.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in life science industry, preferably in a marketing or customer facing role
  • Experience managing the lifecycle of products or services from idea conceptualization through launch, growth and maturity, to their formal deletion.
  • Broad knowledge of the life sciences market, with depth in certain market segments; includes a network of customers and other third parties that can be drawn upon to achieve given tasks more readily.
  • Understanding of selling process and how it is used effectively with varying product types in different segments of life science market.
  • Good communication and presentations skills – both written and verbal.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritizing and managing multiple projects, simultaneously.
  • Good computing skills, with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office tool set. 
  • Ability to travel, including overseas.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Cross-functional – R&D and/or Sales – experience in life science industry an added benefit.
