Systems Engineer

The Division for Research Services (DRS) is seeking a Systems Engineer in its Technical Services program. DRS provides high quality research services for all primary data collection contracts. The DRS unit manages state-of-the-art data collection and management systems and has developed best-in-class data collection protocols to support all types of survey data collection efforts. DRS is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and managing data collection staff for in-person field interviewing. The systems engineer will support the planning, design, and implementation of network applications - primarily voice and data services – including basic telephony, voice mail, contact center applications, voice conferencing, web/online conferencing, and application management tools. This responsibility encompasses a spectrum of roles and responsibilities from requirements analysis to design to implementation and testing and may include project management of any or all these phases of solution engineering. In addition to these technical responsibilities, the systems engineer is an integral team member providing technical/desktop support to the ROC. The systems engineer will organizationally report to the to the Sr. Manager of applications and System Analysis. The hours for this position are 1:00pm-9:00pm M-F. 

Responsibilities:
•   Support of client and web-based applications at the desktop. 
•   Experience with user support for desktop hardware and applications. 
•   Client/Server trouble shooting of networked applications. 
•   Assist with new or existing projects to develop and test; 
  • Attendance tracking systems
  • Time reporting systems
  • Automation of account creations, deletions and changes within LDAP, AD and custom Database structures
  • Computer based training models and methods. 
  • Application Documentation 
  • End user Application documentation and Instructions
  • Help Desk Support of both Desktop and Networked Applications

Machines, Equipment and Specialized Tools Appropriate to function include: 
  • Voice (VOIP), video standards and industry norms as identified IETF RFCs and trade publications.
  • Ethernet, single & multi-mode fiber, IEEE cabling standards, TCP/IP, VLANs, ELANs, OSPF
  • Telecommunication vendor services including circuits, DIDs, PRIs, long distance, 800#s.
  • Interactive Intelligence and Windows-Dell server platform.
  • Interactive Intelligence voice mail
  • Interactive Intelligence Interaction Center
  • Polycom (endpoints) and Cisco (MCUs) video conferencing.
  • Web/Online Conferencing solutions

Qualifications:
•   Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3 years of relevant industry experience.  
•  Experience or education with structured testing methods
•   Extensive Windows 10 Professional operating system support experience
•   Windows Server 2012-2022 operating systems experience
•   Network troubleshooting skills including switching, routing, VLANs, DNS, wireless network management, and network security.
•   To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
* Equivalent experience is a minimum of 6 years of working in an IT related industry 

Preferred Qualifications:
•   BA or BS in computing-related field
•   Knowledge of MS Windows Networks and Networked applications (websites, client and client/server models)
•   Knowledge of Light Weight Directory Access methods and protocols (LDAP and MS Active Directory)
•   Knowledge of Desktop and Workstations as it relates to application services and support
•   One year of MS SQL Server Experience writing SQL queries and analysis
•   Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical end-users
•   Professional presentation with an approachable personality
•   Must love technology and love serving people
•   Self-motivated and eager to learn
