Provide graphic design support to the Center for Health Communication. This position will assist the Senior Program Coordinator – Communication, Writing, & Marketing Specialist by creating, designing, and delivering communications and marketing materials for Whole Communities–Whole Health, a research study in southeastern Travis County that seeks to understand more about the physical, environmental, and emotional health of families facing systemic injustices.

Responsibilities:
  • Create engaging content and develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts for printed and digital publications.
  • Design clear and engaging graphics for print, including flyers, posters, brochures, banners, etc.
  • Adapt print designs for web applications, including social media graphics, web banners, digital graphics, etc.
  • Communicate your design process and decisions to supervisor.
  • Successfully implement design feedback regarding process and graphic decisions.
  • Assist with curating social media content.
  • Autonomously manage deadlines, notifying supervisor of any availability conflicts in advance.
  • Maintain a record of work and archive of all files, both on file-sharing sites and backups offline.
  • Plan and coordinate your schedule of 10-15 hours of work each week, working with supervisor to request any necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with established guidelines for usage of UT Austin, Moody College of Communication, Dell Medical School, and Center for Health Communication’s brand identities.
  • Support Center for Health Communication’s mission to lead the creation of evidence-based health communication scholarship, education, and community involvement.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to make independent judgments
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to establish priorities, balance projects, and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Portfolio

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily remote work during the Spring 2022 semester
  • Work may be done from a self-provided location of your choice
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Accept supervision
  • Weekly virtual meetings with supervisor for training, discussion, and feedback
