Engineering Technician - Construction Inspector

This is a Seasonal AFSCME like position and can work for no more than 6 months. TEM 13 Pay = $25.98/hour
 
Construction Inspector:
 
Road, sidewalk and path inspection – layout removal limits, Inspect milling operation for grade and quality, evaluating sub grade suitability for pavement structure, evaluating and implementing undercut strategy, inspect sub base and base material for grade and compaction, inspect curb and gutter forms/string for line, grade and gutter material placement for line, grade and quality, inspection of paving operations, layout and monitor pavement markings and miscellaneous wall construction inspection.
    * Sewer inspection –Inspect sewer installation for line, grade, quality and pipe materials, manhole/lift station installation and sewer manhole drop connection, Taps installation, inspect utility testing procedures and Inspect pipe lining, pipe bursting, directional drilling.
    * Water main inspection – Researching limits for and preparing water main shut down notices, inspect excavation/boring receiving pit operations, inspect water main installation, gate valve installation and misc. appurtenances for line, grade
      and quality, inspect testing procedures and obtaining water bacteriological sample and submitting to WTP.
 
Required Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of prior civil construction inspection experience • Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent • Must have a valid driver’s license • Perform work independently and as part of a team • Use computers and related software applications

Incumbent may be subject to hazardous conditions including, but not limited to, working in extreme heat and cold for long durations, dust and noise from construction sites, working in traffic, working around construction equipment, poison ivy, chemicals (chlorine), and confined space entry.
 
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
