SYSTEM HEALTH AND MAINTENANCE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (DBA) II


STATUS: Full time
LOCATION: Preferably Madison, Wisconsin; remote work possible within the United States
PAY: $63,000–105,000

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Evident Change seeks a person with expertise in maintaining the health of database systems, executing database workflow tickets in our testing and production environments, and executing the operational aspects of the organization’s nightly analytical processes. This person will also provide help to application support and data integration within application development. The DBA II will support the following areas: user support, operations, database development support specialization, and system infrastructure support specialization. While responsibilities include both application and system support, the System Health and Maintenance DBA II will be primarily focused on this area of specialization while providing surge support for other specializations based on business needs. Evident Change strives to integrate professional development interest in focus areas for our staff.
The salary range for this position is approximately $62,000–105,000 and depends on experience, qualifications, and work location. We also offer great benefits that you can customize to fit your needs.


WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WORKWEEK LOOK LIKE?

Get ready to:
  • Monitor and report system health and backup status;
  • Troubleshoot database client software for Evident Change staff and resolve back-end problems in client-serving applications;
  • Review nightly database jobs daily and solve or escalate issues;
  • Support application helpdesk with database information requests;
  • Complete QA and production tasks in the ticketing system;
  • Deploy code changes to production database systems;
  • Troubleshoot and deploy patches and upgrades at the database and system levels;
  • Periodically test disaster recovery plans for database systems; and
  • Provision and configure databases.


WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU NEED?

  • At least three years’ experience monitoring Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or other relational databases;
  • Experience working with a database/software change management process;
  • Advanced technical troubleshooting skills;
  • Excellent SQL knowledge and skills;
  • Development or administration experience with SQL Server; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
Additional assets include the following.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification a plus.
  • Data integration experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) strongly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science, math, or science desired.
