Senior Software Engineer, Security Engineering

Job Description
As a SIMON Senior Backend Security Engineer, you will play an integral role in designing and implementing security features on the largest platform existing today for managed-risk financial products. We are looking for engineers who can build identity and access management frameworks in applications and integrate into cloud security APIs from AWS, Okta and other security technologies. Knowledge of open-source technologies, modern web standards/best practices and distributed systems is a plus. We’re looking for candidates who like working in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about writing code, sharing ideas and building elegant and efficient systems.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential
  • Work directly with security team and product managers and collaborate across teams to implement security features into APIs and web applications 
  • Use cloud technologies for IAM, Key Management and malware scanning to build reusable frameworks and libraries to solve common security problems
  • Have a deep understanding of security principles and technologies and work closely with our Security and Product teams to enhance trust and security in the platform

What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with security feature implementations, including identity and access management implementation, audit log frameworks, key management and secrets management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working directly with clients
  • Self-starter, creative problem solver and not afraid of tackling big challenges
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about financial products and markets
  • Experience building APIs for large scale applications

No matter which part of the team you join, there is something interesting to work on. Our front-end team is building out our web and mobile presence using React, Redux, and Webpack along with some very sophisticated data visualizations. Our back-end team is using Scala, Akka, Postgres and other open-source technologies to build a micro-services architecture that can scale to handle our ambitious roadmap. Our quantitative engineering team is researching and building novel financial strategies to widen our competitive advantage. Our dev-ops team is creating a development and production environment with Docker and Kubernetes to keep us nimble. Product Management sits in the middle of it all to make it happen.
