Communications Intern

COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP
The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) has an opening for a graduate-level, Communications Internship based either in Washington, D.C or remotely. Since 1985 CCAP has been a recognized world leader in climate and air quality policy working at the local, national, and international levels. CCAP helps policymakers around the world to develop, promote and implement innovative, market-based solutions to major climate, air quality and energy problems that balance both environmental and economic interests. 
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented summer intern to join our team through the summer. This role will support all of our communications and marketing activities including content development, media relations, social media and campaigns. Our communications intern will support the team with a variety of projects, gaining a wide range of experience and skills. The ideal applicant will bring knowledge of the communications, media relations, and social landscapes. Candidates with an interest in environment and energy policy will be especially well suited to the role. The duties and responsibilities of the Intern include:
•        Help to research and write communications and marketing materials, including blog posts, fact sheets, explainers, and more.
•        Support creation and implementation of social media campaigns, including planning and content creation.
•        Help manage weekly and monthly content and editorial calendars.
•        Develop targeted contact lists and assist with outreach to academic and policy audiences.
•        Support design and production of social media graphics, infographics, brochures, and flyers.
•        Contribute, manage and respond to target audiences engaged on the organization’s social media channels
•        Monitor analytics to identify viable ideas and optimize solutions.
•        Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands on various social media websites.
•        Other duties as necessary
 
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in graduate program in digital communications or related field such as advertising, journalism or graphic design
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software, such as Facebook Insights to track audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software
  • Experience in Google Analytics and Google Ads
  • Interested in social media trends
  • Copywriting and editing skills
  • Creativity
  • Available to work at least 30 hours per week
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
