Algorithm Scientist

SLB
At Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) Center, Cambridge MA, the Robotics and Sensors department is seeking applicants for an Algorithm Scientist position. Our team is focused on developing autonomous systems that facilitate energy access while reducing greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with our sustainability ambitions. In our team, we invent and prototype robotics systems that operate underwater and underground.

We are looking for enthusiastic PhD/MS candidates specializing in applied mathematics and AI to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will develop robust and real-time algorithms that drive the next generation of autonomous systems, with the following responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions for Bayesian state estimation, uncertainty quantification, path planning and robotics control
  • Lead the adoption of AI based algorithms that improve robustness and scalability
  • Analyze big data sets to assess and correct performance deficiencies
  • Validate and assess algorithm performance on real and synthetic data

Taking advantage of the vibrant Boston innovation ecosystem, the candidate will participate in strategic engagements with academic research institutions and worldwide industry partners.

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in AI, Applied Mathematics, Robotics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Outstanding academic credentials and project experience in one or a combination of the following domains: autonomous systems, statistical inference, or machine learning in complex physical systems.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python or C++).
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment, ambition and enthusiasm for science and technology coupled with an ability to work with a multicultural team of scientists and engineers.
