GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is dedicated to serving women diagnosed with or at high risk of developing gynecologic cancers. Our clinicians provide expert, compassionate care for women and their families. Our clinician-led laboratory is a world leader in diverse research efforts focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treating women’s cancers. We have an energetic and hard-working team, and we are looking for a new member who can support our research efforts. It is important to us and should be to you as well that you have a passion for improving healthcare and advancing the research enterprise.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time research technician position in the laboratory of Dr. Kevin Elias. This position will focus on performing high-throughput laboratory assays in support of preclinical studies and ongoing clinical trials focused on early detection of ovarian cancer. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a biology or biomedical laboratory, prior exposure to liquid handling robots or automation, and familiarity with sampling tracking, inventory, and recording standards. Prior experience in coding is highly desired, but not essential. Prior experience working in cancer biology is not required. The position does not require direct patient interactions. The individual will work closely with industry partners and research collaborators. It is expected that the individual intends to stay in the role for at least 2 years. Interest in teaching or mentoring is a huge plus.

The research assistant will be supervised by post-doctoral fellows as well as the principal investigator. The work requires daily interactions with laboratory personnel and collaborators and occasional interactions with clinical personnel and other research assistants. Clinical research duties will include retrieving and processing research specimens and maintaining the laboratory inventory for specimens. The individual is expected to work primarily on-site.
