Work Study: Fine Arts Library Circulation Student Associate

Position Title: Fine Arts Library Circulation Student Associate

Department: Academic Engagement-Fine Arts Library, UT Libraries

Supervisor: Lindsey Jackson

Assist Fine Arts Circulation staff with daily, routine library operations. Duties may include assisting patrons; shelving; processing ILS requests and received materials; assisting with equipment, stacks maintenance, and special projects; maintaining statistics; supporting The Foundry.

Position is subject to renewal each semester.

Work Schedule: Hours scheduled during Monday-Thursday 8AM-6PM; Friday 8AM-5PM

Duties:
  • Check out and check in books, journals, reserve books and other library materials.
  •  Process holds, recalls, renewals and other patron requests.
  •  Sort books for shelving.
  •  Answer basic informational, directional and library policy questions, help patrons locate materials in the stacks, provide basic printer and scanner assistance.
  •  Assist with document delivery scanning and processing interlibrary loan, borrow direct, and paging requests.
  • Assist with course reserve processing.
  • Record and tally usage statistics and exit gate readings.
  • Search library catalog for patrons.
  • Maintain the appearance of the Circulation desk, keeping it neat and orderly (including light cleaning and dusting).
  • Assist Foundry through cross training and checking out Foundry equipment. 

Required Qualifications: Currently-enrolled student at UT Austin. Must be dependable, punctual, professional and able to work well in groups and independently. Must have excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience providing customer service and/or library experience are a plus.

Working Conditions: Regular indoor working conditions.

Rate of Pay: $8.05/hour
